This is not mine but listed on eBay and the last line says:
"one letter mistake on title from actual VIN (not an issue in most states)"

I'd also want to see some real evidence it's a real 72 442. The under hood components of the OAI are missing, which leads me to wonder if the hood is after market. The body side moldings should not be on the car if it was really a W29 442.
72 is the easiest year to clone into a 442.

we'll now, it really depends on what 'letter' is the mistake. Want to bet it's the engine code? I'd be waiting to see the engine VIN derivative on the block if that was the case.

If it's truely a mistake and not the "engine code" error, it can be fixed through your state DMV/Dept of Licensing (DOL), but it can be a pain depending on your state's process in doing it. I had to do that for my '68 here in Washington State and you would have thought I was a crook trying to put a new VIN on a stolen car. The problem was the "8" in the VIN depicting the model year; when the car was first licensed in Washington in April 1971, DOL made it a "B" and it stayed that way until 2007 when I noticed the error. I thought it would be a simple trip to DOL and they would fix it because it would be easy to misread the "8" for a "B". WRONG! I had to make an appointment with the vehicle inspectors and have them look at it to verify. The nearest inspection station to where I live was 20 miles away. I called to make an appointment and the soonest appointment was 6 weeks out. That was about it for me - I moved up their chain of command until I found someone that would get me in THE NEXT DAY! But even that came with consequences. Since I had somehow bypassed their regular scheduling process, again I got the super-critical treatment. At one point, I had the impression they weren't going to pass my car because they couldn't find the place on the frame where the VIN was stamped. I tried to tell them that the frame is stamped in a place where they can't see it but I may as well have been talking to someone's hand. I was salvaged in the end by another officer in the inspection station building, also an Olds fan, who just came out to see the car and who also told the inspector that I was right. But that whole process was quite a pain...I don't want to have to go through it again!
