Is it me or does the shifter handle look a little long?

That 442 is just.... wow. I want to know the story that made that placement happen.

It's easy...my 1970 has the same placement. The car (or at least the hood tooth) starts off as a Cutlass or Cutlass S with the standard rocket logo and mounting holes drilled.

If you take a look at the back of the tooth, there are flat spots located at the locations of the pins for both configurations of logos. Somebody decides to rebadge it but doesn't want to cover up the existing holes, drills the holes for the 4 and 2, puts them in and discovers they don't line up...

My car's PO thought it looked cool, different. Now that it's my car, it's on my "fix it" list.

I'd be real curious if the VIN says its a 442. Rare to see manual drum on an AC car. is it really that hard to have the tips line up with the cut outs in the bumper?

Where exactly is this positive battery cable going?

I wonder what the original color was, so much overspray it's hard to tell.

True 442 would not have Oldsmobile emblem on hood.

Yes it would. Only the OAI hood was blank.

And a convertible for good measure.

Do you know how hard it is to find a 1970 442 on the internet the DOESN'T have an OAI hood in it these days? lol.

Thanks Randy, I stand corrected and nice looking Oldsmobiles. True about the hoods being installed on everything.

My car had one but interestingly it wasn't pictured in the sales brochure. Maybe some got it & some did it.
When I painted it I went OAI. HAD2HAVIT

Possibly "NOS" replacements from GM when the car was repainted. This is another incorrect item on my '70 as well, it was born a Cutlass S. One of the PO's debadged it except for the incorrectly placed 442 on the hood tooth.

The guy I bought it from was proud of the mint NOS grills he had got direct from the dealership when he painted the car in the early 90's. Maybe the same guy rebuilt both cars

Somebody respond to the ad and ask him for the VIN. I'd be curious to see it.
