Here's another nice-looking '73 Delta 88 convertible.

But what about that business in his description about Olds running out of engines and needing to put "Hurst Oldsmobile" engines in some of the cars? I've never heard that.

I noticed something else that he forgot to mention that would make that car even more rare! The rear ash receptacles are actually from the super rare and hard to find Custom Cruiser that had the very rare "bamboo" themed wood vinyl decal on the side. These cars were so rare that someone at Oldsmobile ordered 500,000 super rare rear ash receptacles which had the bamboo color match on the interior instead of 50. Most people can only tell by actually opening the lid on the ash receptacle but I had a sensor installed on my browser that does this automatically when I view any photos of any Custom Cruiser. Since they had so many extra, they put them in the Delta 88 cars that year but only for one day. After the first day they discovered their mistake and went back to the regular stainless ash receptacle. This is all documented and I can prove it. Just give me some time to type it all up.

Well, I see our "systems" are working well here. Another case of "Ebay BS". The uncontrollable urge to add some totally asinine and totally false information to an ad in the hopes that some unsuspecting fool will believe it.
I think that is an Ebay requirement now that ads must contain at *least* one false statement like that.
Not only did the '73 Hurst Olds *not* get any special H/O specific engines, the U code engine was not even the "top" engine for '73! (The V-code 455 was).
What a pathetic idiot!

And I'm correct in assuming there's no truth to his comment that Olds ran out of engines late in the '73 model year and equipped the "last 1000" Delta 88's with engines from another source?

Well, Olds DID install Pontiac 400 motors in Deltas during the 1975 model year, but this guy's story is pure ca-ca.

It really looks like a nice car. It is ashamed when somebody has to spin a bunch of BS when they have nice car to sell. Wonder if the seller told this guy that and he has believed it the whole time he has owned the car. Doubtful since somebody would have told him he was full of it. Maybe everybody should email him and ask him about it.

my guess is that the UD engine code is more likely because they installed a '74 model engine as the car was a late build. the UD is a 210 horse big car engine where as the only UD code in '73 was a 270 horse manual trans engine.

Look, there's no fuzz on this whatsoever. The VIN clearly shows a "U" code for the engine. That's a 250 HP 4bbl 455 with dual exhausts, an available option for the 1973 D88. The VIN T motor was the 225 HP single exhaust 455. As for the "UD" code oil tube sticker, anyone care to bet that it's a brand new repro? Note that it was carefully NOT shown in the photos.

Gotta admit, very nice car.....but I think I figured out the problem! It has NY plates on it....he probably bought the car from a NY'er, and fed that line of B.S.! I think it was invented here! Poor unsuspecting Michiganer! Hey, where can I post my thread, "Have a Nice Bridge to Sell Ya In Brooklyn"!

I have heard that about that year there were some full size Olds that had Chev 350's installed while still retaining the Rocket 350 air breather sticker. This lead to no sticker on air breather after some lawsuits about false advertising. Just a rumour I heard.
