am i too picky on this 70 vert for 35k?!

am i being too picky?
if im paying 35k for a car
i dont want a misaligned hood, or an incorrect button on the a/c controls, or bad carpet door panel jobs.
and thats just at first glance seeing the pics and not seeing it in person.
i can only imagine what i'll find in person.
thoughts?

It is a very nice car, but I struggle to believe that it is worth that much. Some of the things that are wrong are not difficult or expensive to fix, but it makes you question the overall quality.

Why oh why is it so difficult to place emblems correctly? I would rather have emblems left off than put on incorrectly. All that work and then you screw that up. 🤔🥴

Agreed. Tons and tons of little problems.
And what's up with the steering wheel rim and the AC vents?
Did someone try and restore them with a silver sharpie and a shaky hand?

I can't recall. Did the Cutlass crumple (crash) ridged front fenders come out in 1970 or 1971?

Even after your warning about that I jumped when I saw it. Ack, that's horrible.

And what's up with the 73-74 valve covers? Is that maybe a #8 headed engine under the hood, or merely a valve cover swap?

I thought so, as well. This 1970 vehicle has 1971 fenders.

It's also missing the rubber door bumpers and the jamb switches for the courtesy lights! The paint is pretty but the restoration work looks rushed.

How do you not put the pin switches back in? That's a new one. This car screams slapped together dealer resale.

As always, it's entertaining reading everyone's comments on these cars but, honestly, should any of us really be surprised? There are precious few of these cars that are put together properly by people who actually care about them and consider themselves caretakers.
The overwhelming majority of cars put up for sale are hastily painted an eye catching shade and then slapped together with a few catalog parts to make them look good for the camera and people who have no real knowledge but a pocketful of cash. Unfortunately, cars like this are probably little more than mechanical junk requiring a knowledgeable person to meticulously go through them just to get them to a condition we would consider presentable.
Having said that, continue on! Always interesting to read the comments.

Looks like the left front wheel well molding is incorrect, the other 3 are correct.

The vacuum module is missing from the intake, so no the cruise doesnt work.

And the intake has an EGR valve on it, so the motor(or at minimum, the intake) is from 1973 or later.

This is just a used car lot special, put together with no attention to detail, and way over priced.

That carpet is just gross. Especially on the door panels. Stuff like this never ceases to amaze me.

After the trim shop got done putting that nauseous carpet on the door panels, could anyone in their right mind step back and say: "gosh. Now that looks better"
