If it only had 2 doors, the price would also double......look at it that way....

 

I think you're right. According to the production records in Setting the Pace, the only version of the '71 Cutlass that was available as a four-door, pillared sedan was the base Cutlass (called a "Town Sedan"), not the Cutlass S or Cutlass Supreme. The Cutlass Supreme came, as you say, in only two or four-door hardtop styles, or a convertible.
