good eye. I also noticed the passenger fender eye brow is chrome, while the driver side is body color, ie 71-72 style. Of course, thats easier to swap than a fender

Is the driver's seat OK,or is it broke? It looks a little too reclined. If you need anything for that,I have some spare seat frames & parts. You might just need the rubber stops, unless someone modified them to recline back farther.Easy fix either way.

The rubber bumpers/stops are missing. I bought some for the seats but haven't installed them yet. I guess the fender deal is as they are in the picture. The left is a 70 with 71/72 eyebrow trim and the right is a 71/72 with 70 chrome eyebrow trim,go figure. I haven't actually looked @ the car because I have a cast on my right foot that comes off today. I will double check the fenders to make sure. Either way,it is what it is,can't change it but is still a very nice car for the price. I will post pictures of the engine & trans vin stamping as soon as I can get them after I get my cast removed. Thanks for all you guys help with the sale.

Mike

I forwarded the car & info to a gentleman out in the Long island area, that is looking for something like this. He's done his share of cars, and definitely understands the cost-saving of buying a solid car like yours, versus a patchwork quilt.
Get that cast off & quit hobblin around.

You just don't know how bad I want the cast off,it's killing me. You're absolutely correct about the car being an easy do with it being solid. The best thing about it is the fact the engine & trans are fresh. We all know how much engine costs are, $3-4K,a nice chunk of change.

Here is a picture of the correct trans ID tag. The one posted above is from another car and it was put into the file of my car by mistake. I apologize for the mix up. I added some pictures of the engine & trans vin & casting #'s.

The car is still for sale and it's located in Birmingham,Al. I've had a couple of guys interested but I'm not sure if they are serious or not. It will go to the first guy that sends a deposit, the only way to do business.

Thanks

Mike Richards

I looked at a 70 442 a few months ago and it had the same fender set-up. The passenger side had the "humps" (71-72) and the drivers side was "smooth" (70). When I questioned the owner about it he said if it was a late production car and they were running out of fenders, they would use a new (71-72) fender at the factory. I'm not sure if I bought the story but everything looked factory correct. Ironically, the car was the same 53 gold color.

That's funny my gold hardtop has the same thing with the fenders but I have heard they used left-over 70 fenders on early 71s not the other way around. Need to search for that info some more.

Yes,it was the other way around, and this car was built November/69,so it's an earlier production 70.
