There is a 70 Sherwood Green W30 for sale on eBay. Loaded with options like automatic, A/C, 8 Track, Rally Pack. But the car has a bench with a column shifter. Pretty unusual. Strangely unusual.
Car also comes with what appears to be an extremely well preserved Broadcast Card. Raquel Welch doesnt look as well preserved.
The Olds Central ad stated, "Mechanically this car is very solid. No leaks to speak of."
Yet, in the photos you can clearly see oil leaking around the heads, a huge puddle of what appears to be coolant or maybe power steering fluid underneath the car coming down the front sway bar and pooling on the ground. Master cylinder is leaking and there are battery jumper cables on the battery, probably the charging system not working.
What a joke! These people lie so much in these ads.

Obviously the seller didn't want to speak of them.

The W-30 option pkg in 1970-71 came standard with Bucket Seats, so a bench was a special request / order and the buyer received a credit when ordered. So while in the minority some were ordered this way in both automatic and manual shift configurations.
I don't know for certain, but it sure looks like someone has been in the engine compartment with a grinder. I wonder why the picture in the OldsCentral link has such a restrictive shot of the heads?

Bucket seats came standard in every 442 for 1967-1971. The W-30 option had nothing to do with it. RPO A52 bench seat was a credit option. RPO stands for REGULAR Production Option. It was not a "special order". It was a check box on the order form just like AT or power brakes. And speaking of AT, even with buckets, if you ordered RPO M40, you got a column shifter. You had to also order D55 console to get the floor shifter.
I agree with Joe A few years ago I was trying to buy a 1971 W-30 Green in color inside and out with white painted top the car had buckets with columns shift auto
Nice car but I lost
