thx guys i too hope it sells and become as good or better than it was from the factory..its expensive and i get that but i think all we will agree how rare this car is to be a 70 w30 wearing all factory pieces w documentation..

Its a very common problem we see up here in the North East part of the country..In fact the last w 30 we restored was actually quite a bit worse than this one is..Both of these 70 w 30 4 spds had snow tires on them and were put away for dead in the late to mid 80's..

I assumed scottv442 was from Arizona or CA initially..Its one word-"SALT"..WE get tremendous weather conditions here from the Lake Effect snow generated from Lake Erie..This part of PA isnt called the "rust belt" for nothing...Temps range from the upper 90/s to 100 in summer to 0 to Negative temps in winter...Theres a tremendous amount of chemicals on these roads to melt constant freezing and thawing snow/ice/slush which rots 1/2 inch thick steel bridges away and destroys 10" thick highway grade concrete highways over the years-its a fact...So of course after say 15 -20 plus years of freeze- thaw cycles with your quarter panels packed with salt does damage..But i do not know the cars history , other than to be told it was in a barn for years before i got it..

if you consider this car was made 12/69 as a 70 model- and was at least in part a PA car- its actually pretty good shape for this area from what we have seen over the years..

sorry. I deleted it. I misread it and thought you were sharing it, not that it was yours.

Nope, I grew up in southern Ontario in the heart of the rust belt and I know the issues with rust very well. Most cars rusted away within 5-10years, as did my first Olds departed back in 1984. A car like yours would have been considered excellent condition even back then. I moved west in '89 and was shocked to see cars from the fifities still being used as daily drivers in the winters here. They are high milers, but mostly rustless. One lady I talked to last year had over 500k on her '68 Beaumont and still drives it year round.

My inquiry was more low mileage related, thinking there might be a story behind the low mileage and good body condition of this W30. Seems to me someone was taking good care of it once or used it only for racing.

What you call a broadcast card is that the P O P plastic card with original
owner name and address? Do you have a Fint broadcast sheet?

scottv-there could be some truth to that statement re : taking good care of it initially or racing it--something unique to this car is the condition of the balancer that i havent seen before,it appears the outer hub if you will of the balancer thats joined with a seal or large o ring to the center section on these Olds's is nearly seperated and or spun from itself..Maybe it was beating up on some Chevrolet's back in day and was slung a little to high on the rpm side????

alain- yes i understand where you are coming from ..But no- what i have is not the Protecto O Plate plastic card that was unique to just the initial owner.. We typically call what i have the "broadcast cards" as the paper is a stiffer / heavier paper that was almost more like a note card feel..or maybe broadcast sheets not sure?on the top left handside of this it says TST card in a vertical way, and also the upper left hand side area then says vertically Broadcast..in this case the car was made the 2nd day of DEC,1969..Also says here :style-body number-trim -paint etc..

line 2 section 3 says W30-section 9 says U80...

then the large X in red

Unfortunately there are a lot of window shoppers on FB but it will get a lot of exposure. Good luck selling your W machine.

Love the that color combinations. Do you mind sharing where on this car was the broadcast card hidden?

Sorry there are so many tools on Facebook who offer unsolicited appraisals and beat up a seller on his price. Usually it's the guys who will never own a W car because they just can't afford one so they chuck rocks at the car and seller.

I readily admit that the car is an ambitious project but agree that it is well worth the effort to save that car. Good Luck.

PS. Alain is the right guy to build that car. His previous GS 455 and W-31 cars now belong to two friends and both cars are magnificent. OldsAl has the W-31.

Make a deal with Alain and the car will be restored right. His current 1971 Stage 1 GS will only keep him busy so long and he needs this W Machine.

thx Mark-unreal amt of interest in this car!!!...Its bitter-sweet-I may regret this down the road..I assure you it doesnt get much better than this for a W30 restoration candidate..with the documentation and mileage and originality with no modifications was pretty rare to see...No W30 specific part was missing on this 4 spd car..

Car had Blue top , broadcast card was in drivers seat, attatched w a hog ring-behind the seat back..When i found it the prior owner said "whats that"...I said this is huge !! he just looked at me and said "ok ...what exactly is that".....

I only wish I had 25k laying around, I would have snapped that up in a heartbeat. Congrats on the quick sale! And yes, lets hope we all get to see this car transformed into the beautiful beast that it deserves to be once again! There can't be hardly any bonafide 70 W30 4-gear cars still left unrestored & available to purchase these days. COOL!
