70 442 W-30 Fully Restored

1970 442 W-30. Most of you know the details of this car but for those that don't, here is the build thread on it.

I have the broadcast card so it is documented to be a real W-30. It is an original stripe delete car but stripes can be added.

https://classicoldsmobile.com/forums...storation.html

The price of finding one and then restoring it will for sure be more than the price of this one. $73,000 SALE PENDING

Good luck Eric. I followed the build and IMO $80.00 is more than fair for both parties. Someone will be getting a good one.

So I missed a zero (or three), I think you all knew what I meant. Sorry Eric, I got you a bump up anyway.

I listed it on ebay to draw attention that it will be at the MCACN show later this month. I am trying to add a link to my build thread but it will not let me. Anyone know how to add a link to ebay?

Sorry, this isn't the answer to your question...
But I think you need a few stunning pictures of that car to do it justice.
It's an amazing car and I think a few absolutely gorgeous finished picts might help. Just like staging a house for sale.

GLWS!

I got the link working. I plan to add some pictures to it. I stink at taking pictures, the best ones I have are from when Stefano took some at the nationals.

Check the spelling on the ad.

It should be "steel", not "steal".

Any advice on good places to list this car? I plan to put it on carsonline.com but is there anywhere else that is good?

If I was searching for something special, I'd be on Hemmings. Ad packages don't seem too bad for the exposure you get. http://www.hemmings.com/place-classi...pe=carsforsale

You can always list it for free on my site; www.oldsmobilecentral.com.
I've had a couple emails of people having really good success with it, however, your car is in another league. Absolutely beautiful. Worst case you just get extra exposure.

Indy mecum is near you. I'm giving mine a try there and a friend is taking a super nice 70 w-30 4 speed coupe as well. It would be in good company. And you get to take it home if it doesn't sell.

It's a killer car, surprised it has not sold. It's just a lot harder to sell than it looks on ebay or at auctions. You never really know if those are true prices, if those cars really change hands, and it's easy for some sheik to buy or bid here for a crazy price. It kills me when people say...I'd buy it in a heartbeat if I had the $, or if I hit the lottery, or if the trees bud with 100 dollar bills this year instead of leaves!
It's well worth the $, it's just a lot of money that most peeps don't have. The real buyers are aging out. A younger person would rather have a new 'vette, Shelby, WRX, or Hellcat for the same $. I did just have a friend send a 1970 GSX to Mecum FL, and he did ok. He got 130K for an immaculate correct car but NOM. I estimate he had maybe 80-90K (maybe a lot more) in and a wazillion hours of labor like you. Subtract the transport, fees, hotel...The bottom line is prices are falling and will continue to fall, despite the people here who say they are not, and throw out highball examples. At this point, you have to be restoring your own cars for yourself, for the love of it, or customers. There's just not a lot of $ to be made anymore.

Nice job. Really well done engine compartment and underside restoration. I bought my 70 4 speed nugget gold 442 off the 2nd owner who gave me the sellers names back in Telford PA. After some digging around and about 10 attempt calls later I was able to speak to the original owner. The husband had passed away but she remembered the car well and said it was her husbands favorite car. They had bought it together off the local Oldsmobile dealership only a few miles away from where she still lived. I sent her a pic and she was really happy to see it again albeit a long way from home on the west coast in BC, Canada. I also kept her emails to keep with the history of that car. This was my second car where I was able to speak with the original owner. Pretty cool!

I will have the car for a little while but consider the car as Sell Pending. If interested feel free to contact me but will be a couple months if the deal falls through.

Beautiful car,I would recommend trying an ad on OldCarOnline.com.I know it's a different kind of car and a different price range, but I sold mine sight unseen to the second contact with no problems at all with the ad. They have several different ads but they are all very reasonable, and they will run it until it sells for the cost of the original ad. They also list on on several different sites for one money. I hope the best for you on your sale, and I sold cars professionally for over Forty years, but I never had a banker that would deposit money into my account ,with a statement of(it's probably already ) in front of the word SOLD. Please don't take me wrong, but don't "count your eggs before they hatch". You have a great piece of merchandise to sell, but get some top of the line photography, and and present the car well in every top Car magazine that you can get it in. You may spend $100 or even $200 to get it to the right person who has the CASH in hand. Best of luck, Larry

I completely understand that. Been down that road myself and never consider it sold till I have the money. On this situation I am ok with holding off for a little while. I was not originally going to list it till early May anyway. It is a friend to a good member here also. As much as I want to pay the house off, it still would not hurt my feelings if it did not sell.

I'm glad this is happening because even though I promised you I would help you with an eBay listing (if needed)...it is a ton of work to make it all look and feel right.

Who else here thinks Eric will sleep in the car the night before it departs???

CONGRATS!!!
