1977 Toronado
Just got this and decided I'd rather find an XS model. Car runs and drives just fine. No misses and trans shifts smooth. Very solid car from IN. A little bubble behind the driver side rear wheel well. The only through rust is on the deck lid. It is the outer panel and not the inner. Obviously this could use a paint job but would be a nice driver. The rear inserts were put in place but could use adjusted. Why a place would repop these parts and do a half *** fit job job is beyond me. Several dents but again, the overall metal is very solid. Pics show the crack in the dash and the cracks in the steering wheel. The seats, door panels and headliner are nice without holes or sagging. The door pull covers have missing pieces. Loaded car that I am going over to be sure what options work and which don't. All the exterior lights operate, power windows operate, power locks operate, power seats operate, tilt and horns operate, radio is AM FM CB and operates, power trunk operates, rear defogger operates. AC kicks in but isn't cold. I assume it's low on charge. Heater works as well as each selection for the vents. Power antenna works if I jump it both up and down. Trying to find or repair the relay as it's the problem. Cruise control tests normal but still not right. I'm trouble shooting it. It won't hold speed. I think it's the vacuum part but will try to work it out. Remote mirrors work, the right side needs secured. I think that covers most everything. Vinyl top has no tears. Awful color that grows on you. It's so awful it turns heads and gets sarcastic thumbs up! How Olds sold these in this color I'll never know. Asking $2600. Lots of photos I can send if you send me your email. Located in Robinson, IL.
Update..... antenna is working and cruise control is now operating properly. Front bumper is nice but rear bumper will need repaired or replaced. Still good enough for a screw around car but certainly could be better.
Brian mentioned the OM transmission tag for the W34. I believe the GT model and the W34 were one in the same in 1970. Next time your under the hood could you look for the transmission tag, drivers side just behind and below the head level?
I saw that you had mentioned the A/C system needs to be gone through, does the heat/defroster/vent system work? blower motor? Lots of vacuum lines on these, I have worked on a few. Nice car...
