1977 Toronado XS

1977 Toronado XS

If someone doesn't quick go buy this car, I might have to. The XS was made only in 1977, and only 2,718 were made compared to 31,371 "regular" Toronados that year.

The base price of the XS was $10,684, which was huge at the time as the regular Toronado had a base price of $8,134 and the most expensive Olds 98 that year was a much-milder-by-comparison $7,133.

This one looks pretty darn nice, and, judging by the other cars you can sort of see in his photos and the big garage the car was in when he took some of these photos, I'm guessing this is a car guy and the car is as described. The asking price of $3,800 seems very reasonable to me.

Note the cars around the Toro in this photo. The red one in the back left looks like it might be an Olds convertible. With all those wheelcovers on the wall and this huge indoor space for his old cars, as I said, this is definitely a car guy.

I believe the red car to be a Skylark. For the money I would say the Toro is a good buy and cool car.

You're right. I didn't see it at first in the '78 brochure. It's barely mentioned that year whereas it was prominently featured in the '77 brochure.

Nice car outside. Really don't care for the seat colors - looks way too busy and out of place for such an opulent car. I don't recognize that steering wheel either - is it Olds?

Was the sunroof part of the XS package? Always did like the XS treatment, it made the Toronado very unique for those two years.

This black XS has found a new home. It's in our driveway, and it is sweet. It's very straight, and nearly everything works, and no leaks. It needs some light rust repair, but not bad for the age, and the reputation these have for rust out. My 14 year old son & I are going to do the needed repairs together, and it will be his first car. He absolutely loves it!!

i had a 77 toro (not XS) back in 1980 or so white with blue velour seats...i hope you enjoy the ride of thats car as much as i did

Wow am jealous!, congrats, anyone who wouldnt like a one of a kind Olds like this xs is not an Oldsmobile lover!

Thanks! We are thrilled with the Toro.
The steering wheel was added, not original, but done well, with a working horn button. The seats & rugs are all original, and decent enough to leave alone. We might need to restuff the driver's seat foam eventually.
Looking for: original black steering wheel, original stereo unit, trunk emblem (lock cover), front bumper guards, and rear bumper ends. I would also take an NOS grill.

Sorry, but around here, all of the used car dealers call them rugs. I guess I should stop hanging around car dealers..
Besides, have you seen the front seat of a '70s Toro? It's larger than some NYC studio apartments.
