I misunderstood. I gleaned from the thread that the car had significant miles and had been driven by Bush to local cruise ins.

 

With 10,510 miles it is a little odd. I would think it is possible that he threw a dealer plate on it and drove it despite the fact that it was not quite legal. Hard to say for sure, athough someone on here probably knows the full story.

 

I guess it would be similar to owning a newer COPO Camaro? Not legal for street use? Wonder if it could be insured?

 

It made at least one trip from Lenoir to Myrtle Beach. Never mind the intended destination was the 1986 H/OCA National Meet at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Personally I think the car is really cool. I was very happy that I was able to see it in person. Hopefully it’s either put on display for all to see or brought to major car shows - or both. And it’s a piece of Oldsmobile history - our history.

If you go to Jeff’s site linked in post #45, two pictures show the car with the same license tag in what appears to be two different locations. It could very well be a NC Dealer Tag.
