Really? I haven't seen that one before.

 

KA heads were 73-76 production...fairly close to G head flow rates. Don't see how that makes this a special feature of the car though.

Would be nice to see some solid info on the car regarding it's heritage for that kind of $$

68's have a W number stamped on the pillar. Mine was like W14 & I had a 04C build date (Late April). As far as we've been able to figure it was a stamp for the production week of the body. If this one was stamped W30 it's probably a very early or very late build date (if this is the same for 71)

This topic came up here in 2010 on this thread. https://classicoldsmobile.com/forums...html#post48723 BTW I have a W12 car. I'm pretty sure the seller of that 71 has W30 stamped on his a-pillar that is pure coincidence.

I'm going to go out and have some W-12 emblems made to stick on my car. Then I'll advertise it as an extremely uber rare 1 of zero.

Correct "H" heads and correct carb and distributor would mean more.

That was before I redid the '69 convert CUTLASS and I recall vulturing parts off a donor 70-72 car that was very near the grave, and on that car I noticed some "W-whatever" stamps... in the sheetmetal. Interwebs search led me to believe that such stamps are SHEET METAL DATE CODES and have nothing to do with W30 or any other RPO a particular car might have.

So, on that point, at least, we are back to "bullshed"

So, no original issue heads... no specific carb number and distributor number [easily replaced / fabricated parts], no OW trans stamped with the VIN... what proves the W30-ness again?

Oh, and LET'S SEE SOME PHOTOS of this elusive "A-pillar stamp".

I checked my friend's '69 H/O today and it has W10 stamped into the driver's A-pillar.

 

Where is this stamp?
I have two in the garage and many more on hand I can check. Anyone whatsoever got even one photo? Or is this the Solid Main Web of body stamps? Where exactly it is located would be nice.

 

Remove the driver's A-pillar interior cover and it's about eye-level when sitting behind the wheel. The point is, the stamp has NO significance whatsoever to the optional equipment on the vehicle.

 

Actually you don't have to remove anything Mike. Here's a pic I just took showing my "Authentic W car!!". It's in plain sight.

 

Well for a stamp in that area you don't but for the stamp on the roof A-pillar, the trim cover needs to removed.

 

Ok, just thought I'd post a pic of where to look for it. This is the location that was specified in the 'other' W stamping post. Just the OP took off all his pics. You mean there's ANOTHER W stamp further up on the A pillar???
