1971 cutlass convertible
1971 cutlass convertible
I am trying to sell my 71 cutlass convertible--problem is it's not a purists car--i have replaced the blown original engine with a gm 290hp/350 c.i. New crate motor--i also installed a new tci 350 auto transmission. While the engine was out i noticed the suspension needed help--so installed a complete new front suspension kit from opgi, the exhaust system was replaced using 2.5" aluminized pipe mated to flowmaster mufflers(dual exh.) replaced the original radiator with a 3 row aluminum unit also from opgi.shocks are new as is a new dual cup master cylinder. Front brakes are disc & in very good shape. The top is new with glass window. Car has a/c,power windows,p/steering etc. Everything works.new spare tire & battery too. The paint shines smooth & looks great but could use refurbishing, it's an arizona car so rust is non existing underneath, there are 2 small spots on the lower pass. Side below chrome trim that need attention, otherwise the body is solid.car has 4800 miles since complete, runs perfect. Asking $16,000. Have all receipts
It's a really clean car with a clean motor swap but as you say "problem is it's not a purists car". I'm guessing it sounds like a Chevy & not an Olds. Your best bet for selling it may be a local car lot that gets a lot of foot traffic. Someone who is less in the know or doesn't know the nuances of Oldsmobile engines may fall in love with it after seeing it in person. I'm wondering why you didn't rebuild the original engine or find another Olds motor for it? Good Luck with the sale, the price is a bit high for this confusing Cutlass, IMHO. Posting your location may help sell it too.
