1971 442 coupe $2500.00
Restorable 71 442 coupe. Needs complete restoration of body and interior. Factory AT on column with bucket seats and no console but is missing the bucket seats. Manual drum brakes all around, no ac no power brakes, dual side sport mirrors. Originally Nordic blue with blue interior. Early production car made at Arlington TX plant circa Aug 70 with 70 type flat rim inner fenders instead of rippled later 71 and 72 fenders. Both fenders need patch panels behind both front wheels otherwise not bad. Car has circa 112k miles but has a 1971 Vista Cruiser 455 4bbl engine G heads with circa 180k original miles in running condition. Stock HEI ignition. Non matching numbers quadrajet. Engine is out of a 71 Vista Cruiser mated with a 350 TH from a 72 Cutlass Supreme. Factory AM radio that lights up when turned on but radio makes no sound. Car has rear sway bar and box control arms but is missing many other parts: No grilles, no headlight bezels, no windshield, no headliner, no front seats, no glovebox emblem, no arm rest, no carpet, no seat belts, no windshield wipers, no sill plates.
Car has a Viking blue 72 Supreme hood without louvers and a warped rust free 70 442 trunk with original red paint and pin stripe. Needs a trunk pan as there is a large hole in it but floor pans are ok. Door panels and interior panels need replacing, Need bucket seats as they are missing, Backseat is descent. Rear end has recently started leaking and most likely has water in the rear end and possibly the trans. Motor is fine other than having so many miles on it. Car runs and lot drives. Brakes are mushy. Probably needs at least a master cylinder. Brake pads were added and do not have many miles on them. Car has been painted with tan primer. Car is weathered and most serious rust is on the windshield dash cowl. Left rear axle is bent causing the wheel to wobble. I put 30k miles on the car since 2000 nonetheless. Rear gear is a 3.08 non posi. Needs a new dash as this one has a cut around the headlight switch. The motor still runs ok but pretty much everything needs replacing on this car. Grant steering wheel. Incorrect exhaust manifolds ie passenger side is a single exhaust welded shut. New full dual exhaust with flowmasters as a small consolation. Car has alot of mismatched parts like 72 pulleys on the 71 engine and a 72 Cutlass S drivers side door panel. I got the car without a motor or trans or grilles and just had to throw it together as best I could with what I had to work with at the time. This is not a parts car so please dont ask for a part out as most parts on it need to be replaced anyway. I will post pictures here after this weekend. Until then dont confuse my signature picture with the car for sale. This is definitely a PROJECT CAR!!!! REAL 442 NOT A CLONE. VIN number tells it all for 68-71. Only 6204 made. PM me for my phone number if interested or any additional questions. Would consider taking $2000 for car without 455 motor which is not the correct engine for car anyway keep in mind. Car has run a best of 14.6 but runs consistent 14.9 to 15.2 in the quarter; however, stopping the car can be a problem.
Also have a non running 72 Cutlass 4dr town sedan without a motor for sale to be sold complete. Nice black dash, nice wheel opening moldings, Decklid seems to be ok and is the same as a convertible decklid. Will not part out and whole car has to be purchased. PM questions if interested. Asking $900. Vehicles located in Bowling Green Kentucky.
Can make a better deal if buyer takes both cars. Feel free to private message me an offer.
Buyer responsible for shipping and shipping is discouraged. Pickup of vehicles in person is encouraged as these cars have issues that need to be seen in person. No sight unseen buyers. PM me for my phone number or any questions. Thanks.

Yeah original hood and trunk were weathered and I found a better hood and trunk along the way over the last twelve years. Although the rust free trunk is warped. Im sure I will need all the luck I can get. Thanks.

Hey buddy, I lived in Bowling Green when I was a kid, my dad worked at the corvette plant, I lived on 11th ave. By the way I am interested in this car but I am selling my 95 jeep and then I will have some money. I am also selling my Indian motorcycle so that will fund the project. I am looking at this car to buy and restore for my daughter. I just hope I can get my projects done in time to sell! I sent you a message but not sure if you got it. Still learning how to operate the computer

I started a thread about this car in the General Discussion section. I didn't realize you were a member here. I've been watching the videos of your car for years and was shocked to see the same car on ebay.
I'd love to get my hands on your car, as one of my favorite things to do is bring old cars back to life. But you live way too far away. Especially since the car would need to be towed or trailered.

Can you send me a link to the thread you started about the car? The car tenatively sold this morning for a lone bid of $1500 to a bidder in Kuwaitt!!! How about that for living too far away?
I will believe it when I see it. I will keep you posted.

Car sold for $1100
Well it is finished. The Alpha and Omega. The beginning and the end. I guess I owned this car for over 12 years. Car sold for $1100 and will reside near Lansing Michigan. Although the car was built in Arlington TX.

Sorry.....I didn't think to come back here and see your response. Luckily you found the thread, anyways.

Good job. Hopefully the person buying it will be able to put a little money into it and make her pretty again.

If this sale does not go thru. send me an email. I'm up in Louisville and would be happy to come and get it. I did not see it on EBAY after your first auction. I have most of the pieces to put her back together.
Thanks,
Brian

The car left last Wednesday May 8 for the Lansing area. Wish you would have found me sooner. It would have been ironic if you had bought the car because I think it came from the Louisville area.
