Very nice, original car. This car should bring really good money. I noticed that even the dome light operates. As you know, generally those details go unnoticed. Unfortunately, no air. I in no way am putting the car down. She's a beauty.
Its a Cutlass. No A/C, no power steering. A reserve of $30,000 might be challenging to sell.
......Just my two cents worth.
I believe it does have power steering.. You can see the belt in this picture. I agree that a 30K reserve is probably more reasonable but I am guessing the reserve was set high to test the market.

That’s an original car that deserves to stay that way. Any other mods accept a/c would ruin it. I agree $30k is going to be very hard pressed.
Agreed. Beautiful car and condition but it is a no frills base Cutlass. The current $17,000 is a fair price. NADA has a high value of $19,700
For additional comparison the last 1970 442 that sold on eBay went for $25,000 in February. Nowhere near this Cutlasses condition but, real, loaded, convertible, numbers matching, documented, with title, and good running. The upside on the 442 restored is 150k meanwhile the Cutlass is already maxed.

I think some mods would be OK... A set of SS I or SS II rims, a factory cast iron intake with a qjet, factory dual exhaust (with out trumpets) and FE2 suspension upgrades would all be appropriate and totally reversible.
But I do agree it's nice to see these cars untouched..
The underside looks like it saw plenty of winter in its mere 23k miles. “Even has original spiral shocks.” Well, maybe the 75% that hasn’t pitted away. Nice car, awful color, 2 bbl, no AC. Certainly an excellent time capsule and chances are that it drives really well.
I’d be surprised if it tops $20k. At first glance, without reading the ad, I thought $17k was a lot, but it definitely has more going for it than that. 4 days to go, will be interesting to see what it does.
Me personally, I don't see that kind of value in a Cutlass S warrantying anything over $10k. You can buy a really nice Muscle Car in the $30k range and drive it.
So the seller figured let me up it 13,000 and see how that works out...
Surprise surprise, no sale again. Sat, Apr 04, 05:37 PM
This car was a great buy when it left grandma's hands in 1985. In 2026 a base Cutlass that ran 17s is not the prize, even mint. 14 second muscle is.
