1970 Olds 442 Hardtop on BaT

Another poorly done car on BaT. Tons of black overspray on the fenders inside the engine compartment. Looks like something a 12 year old would do,

I believe you're seeing shadows from the air cleaner. Taking pictures under the hood on a bright, sunny day isn't ideal. I took some of my car a couple weeks ago after doing some more degreasing, and decided against posting the updated pics because the shadows were misleading.

Haven't we see this car with the early Toro valve covers before? To be honest I'm more impressed that he got the Torker, E-brock carb, AND a spacer under the (presumably aftermarket) O.A.I. hood. That explains the Chevelle seal.

Why can none of these restoration guys ever line up the 442 numbers on the trunk or the fenders??? These are BRUTAL.

I’ve often wondered that myself. That’s usually the first thing I look at when I’m trying to determine if it’s a real 442.

RESERVE NOT MET

Bid to $38,100 - no sale

Paint looked decent from 20 feet but up close pictures showed tons of orange peel and swirl mark scratches in the clear coat. I think it was a quick "sell me red" paint job but probably the body work underneath is very poorly done and the paint will begin to flake off with time.

Typical paid cheerleaders on BaT who spoke out on anyone who asked questions about the restoration quality. I believe it was a cheaply done flip and maybe worth $25-$30k tops if the drivetrain was in decent running order.

I bet the seller had the reserve set at $50k - $60k

Some of the BaT cheerleader crowd is upset that some people brought up the issues of the car.

most of them have more money than sense.. but in my opinion educating a buyer or future buyer should never be frowned upon.

38-41k is probably a good price for the seller. Cars paint isn’t flaking off soon as someone said, been on there since 2013 ad says. I don’t see much in substandard body work but who knows from pics. A very nice driver car, no show car, many things not factory but it is still a nice looking 442 wanna be w30. The tach is *** ugly for sure and 4-5 hours in interior detailing would have helped..BAT is getting like many car sites now, tons of keyboard warriors with nothing better to do and no no intention or assets to purchase, just to pick apart. If its being advertised as correct, then by all means call it out. However the same few *** clowns like little bear going on and on trying to be important. Crazy anymore

I honestly believe there is money laundering going on at sites likes BaT.

Take this 1977 Trans Am RestoMod Pro Touring car. It sold at BJ for $90k only 8 months ago. Then it sells on BaT yesterday for $160k!

WTH !?!? How did its value almost double in 8 months?

I couldn't agree more. Bring a story has become such a joke to me. Amen on the cheerleaders not letting anyone talk smack.

One only has to read all the complaints on BBB and Yelp to see that a lot of scams and fraud are being committed on BaT.
