1970 Convertible 442 W30 Clone
Not mine, but if the car is as nice in person as the pictures this could be a good deal! The ad mentions it has a dual gate, but they didn't point out the tic tock tac, sport steering wheel, tilt floor shift column. I don't know if the hood and wing are factory or aftermarket. Located at a car lot in Cottage Grove Oregon. I've inserted a couple photos, there's lots more on the web site.

That amounts to not doing your research on the proper placement of the emblems, which is
kinda dumb as there's companies making a stencil for it.For that kinda money AT LEAST
they could do that right!

No,you can't build it for $18k,but how much will it cost to correct everything that is wrong vs doing it right in the first place. Not trying to be a Debbie-Downer,but there are way too many of these types of cars out there.

If it were closer I'd check it out in person. Looking at the stripes on the trunk it appears to me that someone started out making a Pace Car replica. The interior shots look very nice as do the under hood pictures. I wonder if the person adding the W30 emblems was the same person who did the rest of the restoration/clone project? I don't think the car lot that now has it knows much about Oldsmobiles as their description of the dual gate was strange. Plus they didn't mention the rally pac, sport wheel or comment on the OAI hood and wing.
Well, for the price I think it would be a fun driver. And that's a difference, I'd be uncomfortable using the real deal as a driver. I've got a friend who sold a restored plane jane Cutlass convertible last summer for $26,000 which was a nice car. But this one has a lot more options than my friends car did, so I wanted to share it here. If someone was looking for a toy, something to drive and enjoy vs. a uber rare classic that's taken to shows and also enjoyed, but not as casually. This could be a good deal for someone. John

Car has been lowered down to $15,500 now. Thats bout how much I'll have in my 71 convertible Im restoring myself. Minus all my labor time. If I was starting over, well then I just might......

Same here I have a little more than that into my 70 supreme vert. I would have bought this one instead as well with the OAI hood and 455. Those wheels are ugly though, they would be the first thing to go along with the wing. I think the wing would be ok if not for those trunk stripes

X2 - the spoiler doesn't bother me as much as those trunk stripes. I HATE trunk stripes on a cutlass (with the exception of a pace car that is). It's not a chevelle. Oops, I've probably pissed off guys with trunk stripes now Sorry JMO

The rear spoiler/wing looks absolutely ridiculous on the convertible, and was never a dealer option for convertibles, as many try to use this as reasoning for installing a spoiler/wing on a convertible.
Oldsmobile literature even notes that the spoiler/wing was only for hardtops from 1970 to 1972, both from the factory or dealer installed.
Others try to say that since the GTO and '69 H/O convertibles had them, all 442, H/O, and Cutlass convertibles must of had them as an "option".

Exactly! That is a lot of car for the money and what a fun ride. I will have way more than that in my car when finished. As for the wing haters, different strokes for different folks!

It looks like the car lot in Washington State bought it with the intentions to flip the car for a quick profit. Thanks for posting the link, it will be interesting to see what it sells for.

Went and saw this car when it was in Oregon. The White definitely hides alot of stuff you cannot see in the pictures.
Both doors showed signs of rust on the bottom of each one.
The rear panel behind the convertible was the thing that scared me away. When I pulled up on the top the parts of the car came up with it. It looks to me like when the car was repainted that the body work/rust wasnt really completely cleaned out. Surface rust was showing up in alot of other area also. The car did start right up and sounded ok. The top worked and the interior had new seats and carpet that they said was original. The car did have the tach and it did work ...
