A quart of oil every 50 miles between Greenville, SC and Belleville, IL? Wow, that's about 13 quarts of oil!

But you can fit a lot of cases in the trunk, so it's not really a problem .

If it were me, I'd have run a tube from the oil-fill tube to the passenger compartment, put a funnel on it, and just dribbled in the oil as I drove. Stopping every 50 miles is A LOT of stopping!

I did that with a '64 Cadillac from Sacramento to Lansing MI

40 miles a qt
after a few stops I could tell the ticking means needs 2 qts, no need to measure.

Every 3rd or 4th stop, swap spark plugs from oily cylinder to not so oily.

Bought about 6 cases of oil at Sears in Colorado.

Almost abandoned the car in North Platte NE, like a dozen other cars out back that made it about that far. Then I figures, well, it still runs... and made it this far.

That was a damn cool car except for that oil burning feature. It literally cost more for oil for the trip than for fuel.

And I thought my '72 Skylark convertible needing a quart with every gas fill-up on a round trip from NY-CA-NY was a lot.

I'm a friggin' amateur!
