very correct car

some observations:

1. Tires not 1969 F60-15 should not be in raised white letters

2. Oil cap not correct

3. Radiator cap aftermarket Standt , no stripe

4. Radiator hose clamps not correct

5.. Spare in trunk not original style looks like a radial

6. Not quite sure but Fuel Line from Fuel Pump to Carb could be incorrect??

Overall a very correct car

Very nice looking ride.

But calling it a 442 is the first issue of concern ...

A nice car, been for sale for a while on various sites.
Not too be nit picky...
  • Wheels are painted the wrong color as is the OAI flapper assy.
  • Incorrect battery (could be a battery cover), should be an R-71.
  • Incorrect water temp sending unit.

the passenger side rims appear to have trim rings, the drivers side rims and the spare appear to be HO style rims

H/o

Grand scheme car really appears to be in great shape. I'd be proud to add it to the stable.

Additionally - torque converter cover is plastic and I'm unclear on the purpose of the chafee guard with hose clamps on the rear sway bar...

Driver side scoop decal is actually a passenger side decal.

But it seems everything "wrong" with the car seems fairly easily remedied.

I didn't see any reference to the distributor number 1111973 or D-heads, though. I'm going to just assume that it's there.

Overall a very nice starting point. I'd rock that beeyotch. It actually is Demmer car #441, there is no "is said to be #441".

I don't mean to pick nits, but I think the 68s and 69s were 442s to start with. The 72 is a Cutlass Supreme, on the other hand.

I don't see it. I thought the decals are the same, at least that's what I got when ordered. Obviously once applied D/S reads with the H/O by scoop entrance, and P/S reads with the 455 by scoop entrance. Not trying to be a wise guy, just want to understand.

the hood decals are tapered with the scoop
H/O 455 passenger side (bigger "5")
H/O 455 driver's side (bigger "H")

no trim rings on car - all chrome "HOOPS"
passenger side valve cover on the driver's side
didn't '69 H/Os with A/C have "C"-heads?

There shouldn't be any trim rings. The outer rim was chromed with an argent gray painted center welded in.
As for valve cover positions? It's another thing that can be easily corrected.
ALL 69 H/O's had D heads when they left the Lansing plant regardless of A/C or not. There have been "stories" that I believe were conjured up about some C headed 69 cars many moons ago, but there's been no solid evidence to support any claims. Not going to say it could never happen because you know GM would never make a mistake , but there's no real evidence as of yet that it ever happened.

Thank you, interesting I never noticed or knew that. I purchased a set from a vendor in October and they are identical. I just went back to look, and the picture shows the correct decals as you described. Waiting for a reply from them. I also noticed Fusick's picture shows identical decals on their page.

This is true, however nobody who owns one knows not to actually call a Hurst/Olds a 442 even if it shares a 442 VIN designation. Only thing that would be offensive to that is if they called it a "four-forty-two".

What are the wires going into both doors? I don't see power windows. Doesn't look very original.
