Hello all,
I am selling my 1968 Toronado. I have it listed on Craigslist and Facebook, asking 8K, but would certainly go lower for someone on this site. I mean, I won't take 2K for its, but you know what I mean! Considering all the friendly advice and help I've gotten here over the years, I would like to pass it on to someone who appreciates it.
Why 8K? Honestly, the prices on these cars seem to be a bit all over the place, and it seemed like a good starting point.
Here is the info I put in the ad, some of which is obvious to anyone who knows these cars:"1968 Oldsmobile Toronado
White Coupe
455-4bbl, automatic
Front wheel drive, ps, pb, pwr seats and windows
Runs and Drives
Clean Title
I’ve owned it two years, selling to move on to the next car on the bucket list
I’ve done the front brake pads, calipers and brake lines, new shocks, replaced the transmission pan gasket, new tires (maybe 1k miles on them), new battery.
78K miles, will go up a little as I do drive it.
Pros:
Not a show car but a good driver, I drive it once every week or so
Runs well, drives straight
Body is straight
Glass is good
Chrome isn’t perfect but all there
I have some odd spare parts to come with it. Two grill pieces, 6 hub caps, a few other odds and ends.
Cons:
Car has the usual dings and tears for its age
Prior owner said he removed the A/C compressor and had it rebuilt but never put it back in. I have the compressor but never got that far to reinstall it.
Needs some electrical work, has a slow power drain, I usually disconnect negative cable if it will sit more than a day, it was also draining from the blower motor switch so I disconnected that.
Has some other electrical bugs, power antenna, gas gauge and right pw switch inoperative. Window does work from the driver’s side switch.
Paint is good at 20 feet but is either original or an old respray
Has a slow transmission leak, I have to put in about half a pint every few months."
Driver's window is also slightly out of adjustment.
Don't know of any other problems, but I'm no expert.
Car lives in my garage, has not been left out in the weather or driven in snow, although it has been rained on a few times.
I'm in the Denver area. I am the third owner. Second owner told me the car was originally bought by an Aurora (Colorado) police officer, who kept it for something like 15 years before the second owner, also an Aurora officer, bought it. He was long retired by the time I came along.
Please reach out with any questions.
