Sold:1968 442 Turnpike Cruister Sports Coupe Survivor For Sale

Up for sale is my 1968 442 "Turnpike Cruiser" post option sports coupe. It has 77,000 original miles and I believe it was never garage kept. It does run and drive, but requires a shifter cable. I am getting rid of it and my 71 charger for a better shape project olds that can be driven daily. Anyone interested can call me (Tim) at 228 365 9129. The car is located in Houston, TX. In all honesty, this car really needs a restoration, but is still a valuable project. It is nearly all there, missing parts include: antenna, 1 hubcap, exhaust tips, and original coil (has aftermarket). I am asking $4500 offers, nothing lower please. I will absolutely entertain trade offers of lesser models (Cutlass, F-85, Delmont 88s also) that are in more solid driver's condition cars. Thanks and hopefully I can find it an owner that has paint and body experience. I just don't want to tear this car up and figure out I can't put it back together. I will also consider trades of it and my Charger for a car worth around $9-10K, but nobody wants a Dodge !

442 possibly sold, will leave posted until transaction is processed on March 9th. Thanks.

The car has been sold. Thanks for looking.

My other car

It is a 1971 Dodge Charger SE w/383 2 barrel, bucket seats, slapstik (correct spelling) shifter, and A/C still holds charge, but blows barely cool air. The brake system needs a master cylinder and possibly a rear brake hose. I am providing the wheel cylinders as they are normally the first suspect in failing brakes along with the other two problems I have just stated.

Hey Tim, I also have a 68 442 post with the Turnpike Cruiser pkg. What do you know about this rare car? Do you have any literature? How about production figures? Thanks!

Talking Turnpike Cruiser numbers

I do not have any literature on the production numbers, but when I got it, I asked the 442.com site and found someone who said 386 made in 1968, and with the sports coupe, 4,282, which I have literature on. There are also specs on the 442 site, like 290hp, and 253 gears (I think). They are an ultra rare option car, but apparently that doesn't increase any value, which I can totally understand. The hardest part is when you sell them, you almost have to convince everyone and their brother that there were some 442s with a 2 barrel dispite the nomenclature discrepancy.
