Reason: Car sold
That is a very nice car Don. You can run an ad in the NTOC newsletter (The Rocket) if you would like at not cost. Just a thought. I think that is a very good price for somebody on your car. It is the best color.

Thanks, I'm planning to do that. I'm starting with all the free ad choices for a short time but will go to Hemmings if I have to. I now have this car in storage so I am motivated to sell asap.
For comparison I sold my 63 Super 88 last year for $9,500. Maybe could have even got more but was looking for a quick sale.
It was low miles, 50k, no a/c, single exhaust, open rear, bench seat, mostly original aged paint with some average quality repaint, great chrome, trim and glass (other than rear bumper had a rust spot at bracket).
I would value your car at just under twice of mine.... so your asking price is a good deal.
Surprised to see you selling this car , Don . GLWS
Are their any other Oldsmobiles in your future ?
Charlie, as an early Darksider I have really enjoyed this car. I change hobby cars fairly quickly, usually keep them 2 years or so, but I've had this one for almost 9 years so it was a tough choice. I have essentially already replaced it with an all original 1934 Chevy 3-window coupe, a diamond in the rough! As to other Oldsmobiles who knows, I have owned more of them than any other make...
Pretty car ! I would have had to consider it, if I hadn't found the 64 I have. I am sure I would have been money ahead getting yours. Good luck with the sale.
Included with the car are the original 14" wheels, PO-3 wheelcovers, chrome air cleaner, washer tank, owners manual, and a repro shop manual. Here are some pictures:
Thanks to those who responded. This car is still available, I have had a few nibbles but no serious contenders. I have used all the free ad options so soon I will put the car on Hemmings.com and we shall see.
This car is still available, like just about every other full size Olds that anyone tries to sell. Someone needs to buy this and give themselves an early Christmas present!
Don, consider placing a free advertisement in Craig's List (CL). You have excellent pictures & that's what will help in a CL advertisement. I've sold ~$250K worth of vehicles on CL - 2007 26' boat, 2011 40' toy hauler, 2012 26' toy hauler, 2001 F-550 as examples.

Thanks Norm, I will probably try that if I get desperate enough. With the exception of one car, all of my experiences with Craigslist have been bad, I don't have the patience to wade through all the lowball offers and text messages.
Another month gone and this car is still available. They say this is a bad time of year to sell a car but I don't know if that's true, all I need is one person who really likes this car. Here are some additional photos.
This car is still available. I have been getting a few nibbles so for now leaving the advertising as is. PM me with your e-mail if you want more information.
Another month and a half and still
no serious lookers for this car, previous compliments and nibbles notwithstanding. It appears to have "Starfire Disease", which I have seen before and shared with other Big Oldsmobile sellers. Everyone who sees the car loves it, knew someone who owned one, always loved them, wished they could buy one, etc. etc. and so on - but there is not a buyer in the bunch. Perhaps it is a problem with big cars in general, if this was a Cutlass or 442 it would have sold quickly. Anyway I now have it on Hemmings online and it will be in the May print issue, they have not failed me before so we shall see.
Put it on Craigslist, nothing to lose but $5 and a bit of time with tire kickers.

This is just cutting off your nose to spite your face. Scammers don't limit themselves to craigslist. It is easy to protect yourself when advertising there. State that you will not respond to texts or emails and that you will only accept phone calls. Only deal with potential buyers in person. Etc. This is not rocket science.
About a month or so ago I put my '67 Delta 88 convertible up for sale on craigslist on a Saturday morning, had three inquiries inside of a few hours, and had it sold by the end of the day. Person-to-person. Cash in hand.
You've been trying to sell this car for, what, four months now? It's time to stop being puritanical about it, hold your nose if necessary, advertise it everywhere you can, and get it sold. You can only be scammed if you allow yourself to be.
It seems, at least around here, that a lot of people are using facebook marketplace instead of craigslist now. Its free and yes you will probably get a bunch of goofy responses, but with a little luck someone may fall in love.
Don ,
I just noticed something about your body and VIN tags .
This was a very early production car . Probably made in the first few days of the production year .
The vin tag 636T01066 makes it the 66th Starfire assembled at Arlington , TX .
The body tag says it was the 64th Starfire coupe assembled at Arlington , so I suppose two convertibles preceded it . ( BT 64 ) .
Also 09B designates that the body was assembled the second week of September 1962 .
Probably the reason for the solid amber parking lamps , rather than clear lamps with an amber lens like you see on most '63s .

This car finally sold two days ago. Hemmings online came through again and found me a local buyer. Thanks to all here for your comments and inquiries. Even though I no longer own an Oldsmobile I will stay on the forum as they are still my first love...
Good to hear. I was getting a little worried that you might be stuck for awhile, given the current economic climate. I know it's a bit rude, but can you give any indication of what you got for it?
