1962 Super 88 Four Door

This car has been in our family since 1968-70. I would love to restore this car but time and money I don't have.

My Dad still owns the car and it is located in San Jose California.

My Dad says he has alot of extra parts for the car. Extra Transmission, Differential, Brake parts, etc...

He wants to sell the car for $2000-$2500 with the parts.

If you are interested please PM me and I will give you my father's phone number. I'm just posting the pictures for him.

Go to this link for the pictures!

Is this car still for sale?
Is the glass good?
When was the last time this car ran?
What is the registration status?

Thanks

Yeah it's still sort of for sale.
Yes it has good glass.
I don't know when it ran last.
It is still registered as far as I know.

It's my Dad's car and I'm trying to sell it for him. I told him I lowered it to $1000 and he wasn't really happy with that so that's why it's "sort of for sale"

This makes me laugh. Does he want to sell the car or not?

You said you wanted opinions, so here's an unvarnished one. Please take this constructively, as that's how it's intended.

First, take the junk OUT of the front seat and OUT of the trunk BEFORE you take the pictures! You want the photos to ENCOURAGE a sale, not discourage one. Seeing an empty PEAK jug in the trunk does not help in seeing the condition of the trunk. Seeing crud all over the floor on the passenger side in the front does not help in getting a sense of the condition of the floor, carpet, etc.

You say you don't know when the car was last run or if it runs. Well FIND OUT!! Ask your old man to start it! Or find out for sure if it doesn't run. This is a major piece of information.

Look, from the photos, the car looks just this side of hell, with rust all over, dents, a dash with aftermarket stuff on it, pictures of junk stored in the car, and more that we can only guess at. It's NOT going to sell itself.

It always amazes me, whether it's here, on craigslist, on eBay, or elsewhere, to see people who are trying to sell a car shoot themselves in the foot by posting out-focus-pictures, only a few pictures, or pictures of stuff IN the car doesn't belong, and they don't have answers to even the most basic questions about the car, such as what the condition of the major components are or if it even runs.

Put yourself in the position of a potential BUYER, and ask yourself what kind of information would I want. You'll help yourself immensely.

I asked him to clean the car up before I took pictures. He didn't do it. Pretty much all I'm doing is posting the pictures for him. If anyone was interested I was just going to grab their number and give it to him or give them his number.

I lowered the amount from $2,500 to $1,000 because I thought it unreasonably. He thinks because he has all these extra parts for it he is going to get a bunch of money for it.

Thanks for assuming that I didn't think of those things.

You're a noble son. It's obvious that your father's heart is not in selling this car. He SAYS he wants to sell the car, but his actions indicate otherwise.

Hey, in your second post you asked for comments and feedback. So I offered some. I can't tell what you're thinking or not thinking. All I can do is read what you write.
