1955 Olds 88 1 Door Hardtop

This car is a beautiful example of a very well kept survivor. It is beautiful on the outside, inside and the underside is spotless also. All brand new custom interior just installed. Absolutely beautiful. This car runs, drives and stops perfect. It is a very rare 3 speed on the column. A real fun car to drive. It has radial wide white tires and handles great. Never any patches and the body is straight as an arrow. Take a look at the pictures. If there is any other pictures needed, write or call me. Glad to show off this car. I would love to keep it, but another car has come up for sale that I have always wanted.$25000

Car looks nice,it is called a "88" 2door Holiday. It's not a Super "88" ,but does have the 4 Barrel carburetor. Yes ,it was rare to see a holiday(hardtop with no post between Windows) in a 3 speed column shift. Looks to have the padded dash and autronic eye . Good luck with your sell. Larry

That is a very nice car and I think your price is reasonable. As Larry mentioned, it is a regular 88 with an unusual list of options for an 88. I suspect some of those have been added along the way. The 88 came with a 2 barrel carb so I think this was probably replaced along the way. The Autronic Eye and padded dash were options usually found on higher end cars. The standard transmission is very unusual and was probably a special order. Somebody was on here a couple years ago with a 98 that had a standard transmission. That was super rare. You have a beautiful car and good luck with the sale.

In 1955 you could order a four barrel on an 88 as an option. As for the 3 spd. stick that was standard equipment.

I understand the 3 speed stick was standard equipment but was still pretty rare. I did not know you could get the 4 barrel on a regular 88. Most I have ever seen had the 2 barrel. Thanks for clearing that up. We never quit learning about these old cars. That is why this is such a great site. There is lots of knowledge on here.

I can attest to the rarity of a manual tranny in a full-sized Olds.

In the early 60's I owned a Super 88 with 3-on-the-tree from the factory. Never, ever, have I seen another. It also had manual brakes and manual steering.

This was back in the day when you could order it your way and that is how my brother ordered it new.

Also if you bought an Olds back then you were doing pretty well in life so most people went for the automatic, and they would sell more cars to women.
