1950 Olds 88 Tin Woody Wagon on Craigslist (not mine)

This is way cool in my book! I can just imagine a small vintage camper being towed behind it. There can't be many of these still around.

With just a little work it could look like one of these.

Beautiful!

I think I saw that car for sale a few years ago. Definitely a cool project.

It would be a cool cruiser. I wish I didn't have so many "projects" going on. It won't be worth much once its bastardized.

Whoever buys this please don't ratrod it. It looks very complete and the original 303/HM is there and it would make me sick to see an SBC or worse, an LS under that hood. Aside from the necessary woodwork, it looks like a pretty straightforward resto.

I agree 100%. By the way that is not actual wood. It is painted on. I spoke with the owner of the yellow car who is from Houston. He had that wood painted on by a guy that had done one of ZZ Tops cars. The detail is incredible.

That's surprising. Didn't the OE tin woodies used a vinyl applique like the Vista Cruisers and Custom Cruisers of the 60s and 70s?

I don't know if they were originally vinyl or not but I do know the wood on the yellow wagon is painted on. There is no telling what it cost.

Vinyl wasn't advanced enough to last on exterior panels back then and Di-Noc was only on expensive cars. There were very talented people back then who painted faux woodgrain on interior and exterior pieces. There are very talented people now who can reproduce it.

That car is too good and too rare to let the "upgrade" crowd get hold of it, because nothing they do can easily be undone. 1950 was also the last wagon Olds produced till reinstating them in 1957.
