1936 Oldsmobile Business Coupe

1936 F36 Business Coupe, VERY original. How many of these 3 windows are left in this original of condition???? Not many... I bought this car out of a private a couple of months ago not knowing alot about them. I'd been looking for a 3 window coupe(any make) in decent shape for years to make into a custom taildragger. When I saw this car I jumped at the opportunity to buy it. I saw how original it was but all I could think about was how lucky I was and what I was going to do to it. I got it home to the shop and began going through it and researching it. I finally came to the conclusion it's just too nice to alter and I didn't want to restore it. It needs to be in the hands of someone who appreciates it for what it is, hopefully an Olds person! I was not able to talk to the owner as his collection was being handled by a third party, but this is what I know and have observed- the paint, carpet and exhaust are not original pretty much everything else is. A separate horn has been added but can easily be removed. The spark plug wires are later but can also be replaced. The original gas tank has been removed cut open cleaned out and put back, there is some old sludge/gas that dripped on the frame but can be removed. The under carriage was coated many years back with the thick tar like undercoated that preserved everything. There is some surface rust here and there but nothing deep or serious. The original clock and windshield are there but don't work and neither does the original horn. The original heater has been removed and is in a box as it leaked water years ago and will have to be re-done. There is a brand new factory grill with the original tag still intact ready to install!! I've seen these go for $1500-2000. I've also got 4" lowering blocks I bought but haven't installed along with steel skirts (no stock) that are on the way. The runs and drives nice. The doors either need adjusting or possibly the wood replaced. The interior is intact original but will need freshening up. Some scatches in the paint. I've tried to describe the best I can but I'm sure I leaving something out. This is a rare chance to own a very original 30's 3 window.I'd like to get 19K for it. If your interested please PM me and I can answer you questions and send more pics. I recommend looking in person or having a representative check it out before purchasing, as it's being sold "AS IS" with no warranty or guarantees. Thanks for looking.

I'd really like this car go to an Olds guy! Someone who will appreciate it and keep it original. I've had a number of offers from guys who want to rod the car. I'm serious when I say this- I'll take less from someone who wants to restore it.I need the room and am going to post it on craiglist and ebay next week. I'll lower it to 18k OBO- shoot me an offer, lets talk! Thanks, Mike.Email me at madhman@comcast.net

Thanks for making the decision not to hot rod this car. Although it would make a great street rod I agree it should be kept original. It is just too nice. I hope somebody steps up and buys it.

Just saw this. What an incredible looking car. You're right about not seeing many of those around. I'm with Glenn on the thanks!

Do hope you find the right buyer.

Washington State

The car is located in Kirkland Washington, a suburb of Seattle. I'd be willing to transport in an enclosed trailer within a 100 mile radius.

Not the same by along shot

ferndaleflyer, thanks for the heads up on the 37 in Atlanta. That car is a 5 window that's been modified and is currently partially torn apart and he still wants 6k for it. My car is an unmolested ORIGINAL condition car. It's in my shop now and should be done with lowering blocks and skirts in a couple of weeks. You will not find another 3 window in this condition.

Looks like he has now stuck it back together and has it on Ebay------thats a nice car you have. I have another brand business coupe (3 window) up in my barn and like a Model A I used to have everyone interested wants to cut it up for a street rod----no way!

I've run into the same thing. I'm trying to sell it to someone who won't cut it up but ultimately who ever buys it can do what they want with it.

Blocks and Skirts NEW PICS!!!

Just installed the lowering blocks and fit the skirts. Gives it a much nicer rake. I'll have the skirts painted in the next week or so.

Although it is not mine, I liked it better without the skirts.

I have spent some time trying to get this car to someone who will appreciate it and keep it original. That's why I ended up posting it here in the hopes an Oldsmobile guy would want it. I could have went on Craigslist or eBay and sold it to anyone who may or may not of cut it up. When I do sell the car I want to do so with a clear conscience that I gave it my best shot to get it to someone who'll keep it original.

I'm really glad you took time out of your day to post a negative comment!!

Harleywood:

I don't think oldcutlass was making a negative comment. He was just stating his opinion which many of us do from time to time. I actually share his opinion but I still love this car.

Hey bud, I was not trying to be negative, you stated they were installed and you gave your opinion, mine is what it is. Sorry if I offended you.

I hope that someone does buy it to maintain it's originality.

Still for sale!

Had a number of offers, but they were either a little too low or they wanted to rod the car. Somebody step up and keep this car original...
