Stainless trim

I have noticed that some of my stainless trim around the windshield and rear window has a thin piece of rubber inside it and some of it doesn't. Does this need to be there and if so where can I get new pieces?

My bet is the vast vast majority of restos never had those black plastic strips re-installed. Not a necessity to reinstall but if you have it on hand why not? Don't think it is repro'd.

Yup, what Patton said.
I'm pretty certain they were to help limit rattle. Adds a bit of weight and springiness against the clips. Not essential.
