My brother and I are going to be storing for an extended period of time a 1968 442. When I say extended it could be a few years before he finishes the project and we want to maintain the dash without having to pull it out (pia to do that). The car is stored in a closed wooden garage with both doors off the car during the resto. A fellow car buff advised him to sprinkle baking soda all over the dash and seats to maintain their look and feel...he had done this with his Toro for years and never had any issues during his long storage periods.

Sounds interesting but we'd like some feedback from other members here on what they've done in the past to preserve a dash or seats in a similar situation. We really don't want to pull the dash if we don't have to. Thanx again everyone.

I never heard anything like the baking soda trick...

Being in cold Canada, deterioration would be much slower than hot dry areas like TX and AZ. A few years should not be a problem.

I would be concerned more about rodents than general deterioration.
