fix for faded black inner fender wells

The engine bay fender wells on my car are faded black/greyish.

has anybody used anything to bring them back to black

Ive read about stuff like mothers back to black, SEM trim paint (not the vinyl dye from SEM) turtle wax ice

anybody have any good or bad experiences for making these black again ?

So in other words they are CLEAN, just not black anymore?
Mine were like that and had an old crumbling undercoat on the whhel side.
I used oven cleaner to remove the old UC and resprayed the wheel side with fresh undercoat. Look like new now!
Luckily the tops were still black.
SEM plastic paint could work there if needed - others here have used that.

I used armor all protectant to get my fender wells looking good again. You could also try tire wet and see if that works. It depends on how bad they are if you will be able to bring them back to looking new again.

yeah theyre clean just not black more....theyre greying w some whiteish spots.

I rubbed some SC1 (maxima new bike in can (LOL) in an inconspicuous spot and it did absolutley nothing. On my dirt bike it really shines the black plastic but thats already in good shape, I was hoping to see at least a minor improvement w the SC1

Im not looking for new looking (that would be nice tho) just black(er) than the graying I have now

Im afraid the shoe polish would rub off easy

on the back to black and armor all what did you guys fender wells look like to start with already black or faded ?

I will save the SEM trim paint for my last resort as its the most work. I have used the SEM vinyl dye on interior stuff like my console (blue to black) and kick panels (faded black to really nice black) but Im not sure its the best choice for underhood

I think your problem is that there is a lack of pigment in the plastic. Mine are like that in places - nothing I tried blackened them up. Luckily the visible sections were fine. In that case, painting will be your only option.
