I purchased the package of 5 new brake lines for the front end of the 70 442 between Thanksgiving and Christmas 2020. It was only recently I installed them and 2 lines contained defects. The two lines ran from the brake distributor to the left and right front wheel and it was the end that connects to the flexible rubber brake line at each wheel (light purple fitting).

The defect is compromised tubing and it leaks when installed. Something in their process punctured the tubing under the fitting and it is only upon very close inspection it can be identified.

If you purchased brakes lines from this entity during this time period, and have not installed them, I suggest you pull back the fitting to expose the area under the fitting for inspection prior to installation.

Inline Tube said their entire batch was defective when I brought this to their attention. The firm promptly replaced the defective products.

I’d venture to say this problem does not exist with tubing purchased presently, but it always pays to closely inspect prior to installation. I hope this alert helps someone else down the road.

 

Was your experience with their stainless steel or zinc coated steel product? Did they indicate the defect is present in both?

 

The issue I encountered was with the zine coated steel tubing, so I can't respond to the stainless steel tubing. Thanks for bringing up that distinction.

Bingo! Mine looked exactly like that and leaked under pressure! I guess the biggest clue is the buggered up fitting as that is what caught my eye then I noticed the compromised tubing.

I suggest: use the Chat feature, give the order number, and the picture you took; they will mail you a replacement. I sure would not install it. Even if it doesn't leak when you install it the tube could fail down the road.

I put the post up because I encountered such a mess with the leaking lines. Antifreeze and brake fluid are two things I don't like dealing with, but they are required. Glad you didn't have the mess that I did.

 

Sounds like they admitted their mistake and were easy to deal with when correcting.
