Cliff's High Performance

I've bought three Quadrajet rebuild kits from Cliff Ruggles. You probably pay about $20 more for his kits than NAPA but the advice you get from him is immeasurable. He walked me through converting a 72 Olds 350 carb for use on my 70 455 that I have in my 442. When it was running like crap after the rebuild he probably could have suggested that I send it to him but instead he recommended changes to the secondary rods that made the carb run flawlessly.

This weekend I rebuilt the Quadrajet in my boat (it was a remanufactured carb that was on the boat when I bought it). I was having a lot of problems getting the filter housing nut to seal. I thought I had it sealed and then while underway it let loose, spraying gas over the intake and starting a fire. I spent 15 minutes on the phone with him this morning trouble shooting what happened. Cliff asked all the right questions to come to the conclusion that the filter housing nut that is on the carb is not original and is not carrying the nylon o-ring seal tightly. He said he'd send me a correct nut out today. He said it was just luck that the original had ever sealed.

X2, I called him 3 weeks ago about getting a rebuild kit for a Edelbrock Performer RPM #1910. He's very friendly and talks about the do's and dont's right over the phone.
