Rear disc brake conversion 69 W31

What have people used for these 69 rear ends? Has disc on the front, may upgrade them also.

If the car is a real W31, you are making a mistake by converting. More to the point, very few of these aftermarket kits are properly designed and engineered. Also consider the fact that you will be spending several thousand dollars (plus the cost of new wheels to clear) for the back discs that include a proportioning valve that throttles back the rear braking force to prevent premature lockup and loss of control. The result is not much improvement over the OEM drums. Your money, your call, but do this with your eyes open. The factory put orders of magnitude more effort into engineering and testing the brakes under worst-case conditions than any aftermarket supplier ever did. And if all you are using the car for is driving to cruise night and back in the summer, this is really a waste of money.

Yes what Joe P said, as usual. There is a reason he is lauded as he should be.

Previous owner of my car was great. Just wish he never had the 4 wheel disc brake conversion done. Brakes were wonky since day one for me. Thousands spent back then and thousands spent since then just to get them to work as well as a stock 87 442, which still had rear drum.

Not worth it. Rim issues even when oversized, replacement part issues, emergency brake issues, etc.

Currently the original conversion kit parts have been mostly replaced by factory replacement components. Corvette C6 booster, Camaro front brake components, Firebird rear brake components. Finally I can drive her with more confidence. But that's the same confidence I would of had if the 69 was factory correct.

Now that you've heard some informed opinions, do you want to share your motivation for making such a change?

Thanks for all the info, you put that to rest for me. And no I don't want to share my motivation, I have done so several times regarding the direction I am taking this car.
