69 Cutlass Convertible emergency brake

Is there a secret to removing the rear emergency brake line from the backing plate? Should I just destroy this clip and buy another one? Or can I even buy one of these clips?

There is actually a tool for this, but a hose clamp works in a clinch. Do not break the locking device off.

Clean it all up lightly with a small wire brush, put some oil on the fingers/tabs and the hole in the backing plate. Open a small hose clamp, put it over the fingers/tabs, close the clamp enough to get ALL of the tips of the fingers worked through the hole. Once the tips are in the hole, remove the clamp and then the cable.

Good luck!!!

One other quick question, I’m about 99% sure my Cutlass Supreme has power brakes. Before I start ordering brake parts how can I confirm that?

Look for a vacuum booster behind the master cylinder.

Imagine that. You do have power brakes.

Thank you, I know these questions are silly but i'd rather be positive before spending a bunch of money.
