Axle backing plate

Old wheel cylinder
Hi there, I was wondering if someone out there would be able to help me out. I am having some trouble sourcing replacement wheel cylinders for this axle. The wheel cylinders have a flat bottom. Would someone know the correct part number and a good place to order them from?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

 

You can go to your local auto parts store armed with the year and model of your car. The wheel cylinder in the picture looks to be the correct one.

 

Thanks for the quick reply. Yes the one in the picture is the one I took out so I know it fits.

When I bought the axle I was told it was an 8.5" corporate gm out of 1971 Olds Cutlass (had it shipped). When I go to the local parts store and give them this info they give me a completely different wheel cylinder than the one I took out.

All of the other websites I go to give the same wheel cylinder as the one from the local parts store.

Any other ideas for how I might find out what wheel cylinder I need?

The wheel cylinder came from the axle in the picture. I removed it from the axle in the picture before I sandblasted and painted the axle in the picture. When I bought the axle in the picture, the guy told me it was from an 8.5" corporate gm axle from a 1971 cutlass.

 

I see that the hole in your backing plate is round on top and flat on the bottom. None of the Olds wheel cylinders that I looked at on the Rock Auto web site are shaped like that. I looked at the Olds axles in my stash (1968, 1970, and 1971) and they all have a full-round wheel cylinder hole in the backing plate, so I have no idea what rear you have. Perhaps post some pictures of the rear overall and the casting numbers and we might be able to identify it.

Yep, those look right. I wonder what rear that application is for? It would be nice to see that info in the listing.

 

If you don't want Chineseum -- I have one last set of N.O.S. U.S.A. made cylinders for that application.......

Not sure how much you were asking for the NOS ones Craig, but it's likely they were out of my price range. I appreciate the offer though.
