Rear axle brake line replacement

I have a 1971 Cutlass with rear drum brakes. I am replacing the rear axle brake lines and came across this clip and I’m unsure how to remove it? It looks like maybe it is spot welded but I am unsure.

If I understand you correctly, take a pair of pliers or flat blade screwdriver and force open the jaw of the clamp; the jaw being opposie the welded side. You don't need to remove the clamp to remove the brake line. Once the brake line is replaced simply bend the jaw back over the brake line to hold it in place.
Happy Motoring!

And if you happen to snap it, they sell new ones which are plug-welded to place.

If the clip feels like it is going to break stop. You could slide a new brake line without a tubing nut through the clip and flare/form it in place. This will probably be unnecessary it's just a work around if needed. Be gentle bending the clip, open it only as much as needed and you'll be fine.

Good luck!!!

Be sure you also replace the center rubber hose to the main line regardless of how good it looks. They can collapse internally and cause braking problems.
