power booster

hi, just started driving my car , which is a 65 starfire. the brake pedal seems to be very hard when i pushon it ,it will stop car car ,but say you are on dirt ,you go 15 mph, hit the brakes ,you can not lock up the tires , if i remember right , the one i had in 1970, would all most put you through the winshield,one more thing ,if car is not running and you press on the brake pedal, and start the car ,the pedal does not go down at all , and all brake system is new , so looking for help, thanks again .will

Sounds to me that you have no vacuum in the booster. Are the vacuum lines hooked up? And did it work( the booster) before you replaced everything ?.....Tedd

well went to check vacum, and when i took off the line,it had plenty of vacum ,put it back on and seems to be working, when i start car now .pedal drops almost an inch,did not do before, see i had car all apart ,and when i got it , it did not runat all ,so never tested any thing ,mostley just bought all new stuff, so just take it for granted all will work , but sat 4 years so , i guees i am lucky it works now , thanks alot . will
