New booster

I purchased a power booster. The rod on the pedal side seems to be short. Does there generally need to be an extension? Also, does the provided dust cover between the booster and firewall need to be cut down?

Has this issue been covered in another post? If so, location?

What brand/pn booster did you buy? The rod should be long enough to connect to the lower hole and allow the pedal to rest against the return stop.

Is the dust cover the white plastic tube? It crunches a bit and the small end gets smooshed into the firewall hole. It'll fit.

Some boosters got manufactured with short rods for custom/altered applications. I picked one up with a nice discount. You can get an extension from folks like MBM.

Purchased not 100 percent sure of applications. Maybe for Nova. Also, booster to master cylinder pin incorrect diameter.

That pn is not valid, yours should be 54-71106 fir a 72 Cutlass. It looks like the one in your pic was connected to the top hole on your brake pedal by the way the plastic cover is crushed up.
