Inline Tube

So I received my new brake line from Inline - master to the metering valve. The 9/16 “ nut is green and the 7/16” nut is purple. Sure looks pretty but I’m looking for the stock look. I do not believe that the colors are anodized. I’m thinking that they are silver/stainless underneath the current finish. Before I go experimenting with trying to remove the finish, does anyone have any experience with my same situation ? I would like to remove the current finish on the nuts, thinking that the silver underneath would fit my cars stock look better. I called Inline and spoke to a rep but he was not sure if the finish is anodized. They can custom make one for me with silver nuts but it would have to be a stainless line - not OE.

Hi Mike.

I always considered the colored nuts to be stock. The color does not last long, that's why you don't see the color on original cars.

If I'm wrong, someone will chime in!

I would install them first and make sure they fit and work. After that you could probably take some lacquer thinner and wipe the color off.

Thanks Gary and Glenn. Yeah the line and nuts fit. Whether it leaks or not is another question. That nut to the metering valve is a pain in the ***.

The colors were bothering me. So the green and purple colors are anodized, chemicals will not remove it. I took a Scotch pad and a Brillo pad and with some elbow grease all of the color came off. There are no scratches on the nuts to the naked eye. They are now silver and they look good. I’m hoping they don’t rust but they do look like a quality product that won’t.
