I picked up the manual brake master cylinder from a 79-83 Fox body to use on my 62 F-85, due to the starbord outlet location and the 7/8" bore. I need to modify or replace the pushrod that came already attached. There is some sort of plastic retainer holding the pushrod into the back of the M/C. Anyone know the trick to getting this out? Does it simply snap in, or is there a retaining ring I'm not seeing? I don't want to break it getting it out. Thanks.
Is there a snap ring holding the piston in the master cylinder? If so, I would start by taking out the snap ring and removing the rod and piston from the master cylinder.
For a guy who doesn't work on cars, I Have your answer....
It is backwards to what you think is normal...
Lock the push rod in the vise -- and knock the master cylinder off the push rod --
Rather than visa versa.
The master cylinder will then separate from the push rod.

Leaving tonight for Carlisle -- see you there --. I I. 118 -, 119..
