Daylight Robbery

Do they think I'm stupid?

I can't find a supplier of rear brake shoes for Delta here, so I rang around and was surprised, or rather shocked to discover one mob wants $160AUD to rebond my old shoes! Talk about price gouging just because its not a common model, F#@&!!

I can have a set delivered to my door from the U.S. for under $45AUD off ebay!!

Damn that makes me mad. So much for supporting local retail.

Does anyone have a preference for a manufacturer in the U.S., Wagner, Bendix, Monroe?

Try rock auto (rockauto.com) I am not sure there is much difference in them anymore since most if not all are made in China. I used to have a preference for Wagner. Their rotors for the 94 Corvette I used to have were made in China. Chinese parts on a Corvette just seems wrong.

while I understand your frustration, rebuilding anything is much more labour intensive than assembling new parts. Plus you have to consider that nobody in Oz works for the $3 a day they do in china. Then consider, what quality material are they using? I can get shoes that vary from $30-$70. I'd wager that for custom shoes, they're using the best they can get

Still $160AU ($150US / $164CDN today) is beyond outrageous for relining a set of brake shoes, no matter where you are.

Damn right Eric.

Just ordered a set of Wagner thermo-quiet shoes AND a Carlson rear drum hardware rebuild kit out of Cali, U.S. for $61.50AUD delivered to my door from ebay. Now I have to wait 3 weeks to get it.
$100 saving, I can wait.
