Calipers

What is the difference in Un-loaded,loaded and semi loaded calipers.?

Loaded is with the brake pads, new pins and everything needed to just bolt them on. Unloaded is just he caliper. Never seen semi loaded listed before.

I think semi-loaded is with the pads but not the mounting hardware.

Semi loaded is installed on the car but no brake fluids if I remember correctly. Stupid terms if you ask me .

Uh, I don't think so. Unfortunately, I also got it wrong above.

Semi-loaded really only applies to calipers for newer cars that come with sliding brackets. You can get bare (unloaded) calipers. You can get loaded calipers that come with pads (usually lower-grade) and mounting brackets. You can get semi-loaded that come with the mounting brackets but without the pads. This doesn't really apply to Oldsmobiles with the sliding calipers.

Loaded calipers can't walk.
Semi-loaded calipers stagger a bit but manage to walk along.
