brakes f*cked up

brakes f*cked up

What do I have wrong here?

I can't tell if the self adjuster actuator is not seated under the retaining spring or the lever is just up.

Can't see how the self adjuster connecting rod is attached. Make sure the brake shoes are seated up to on the pin.

Should look like this:

Looks like the spring on the adjuster is on backwards. I believe the adjustment wheel should ride on the actual spring, not the long hook end.

i swapped the blue spring shortly after I wrote this and that took care of it

The spring on your "star" adjuster is backwards. The coiled part should be on top of the star wheel.

Nothing should come in contact with the star wheel, the spring should ride flat against the barrel. He stated the blue spring was on backwards causing the coils to **** the plate.

Well, except for the adjuster pawl (can be seen in the first photo of the first post.......there should be no gap here between it and the star wheel). This is what indexes the star wheel and automatically adjusts the brakes as the shoes wear. Fixing the installation of that blue spring should resolve that issue. The red spring should NOT come in contact with the star wheel, it rests against the body of the adjuster barrel as shown in the photo in oldcutlass' post.
