Brake line diagram on a ‘72 98?

I’ve seen brake line diagrams for other models but not my 98. Has anyone seen one?

Send me your email address and I'll send it to you. I have no idea how to attach anything on this forum.

Try the "attach photo" icon.

I found the proper section in my CSM (sorry I didn't do that previously). Stupid question: My "98" is a B-Body, isn't it?? I found these diagrams; attached. Need to try and find the "brake line HOSE ASSEMBLY" parts - anyone know where I can get a couple? I'm not seeing them on Rock Auto or general internet search...

The Ninety Eight is a C-body. The Eighty Eight is a B-body. In reality the only difference is that the C-body has a three inch longer wheelbase. The brakes and suspension are the same between the two.

Yours is a C body. B body is 88 models. Rubber brake hoses should be available from RockAuto or perhaps your local Napa. The special bolt that fluid flows through is called a banjo bolt. Not sure how easy those are to find.

thank you. And I’m “good” on hoses and banjo bolts. It’s those things in the diagram that is like a small junction block. One hose comes into, say, the rear axle area - into this “hose assembly” junction block and then splits left and right to each wheel

Just realized, when I started disconnecting all the lines, that it looks like 1/4" brake line to the rears and 3/16" to the front? Interesting

The rear brake line from the M/C to the combination valve to the hose for the rear axle is 1/4". The lines from the tee at the end of that hose to the rear wheel cylinders are 3/16". All the front brake lines are also 3/16". This is how every RWD Olds from 1967-up is plumbed.

Very interesting. Thx. Do you know where I can buy a couple of those “tees”?

The rear brake tee is part of the hose assembly.

Thanks Joe. I'm talking about the "hose assembly" that the CSM refers to - see image here with red arrows.

Which is what I posted photos of. These are readily available from any auto parts source.

I ain't tryin to pick no fight here, but I'm pretty sure those black flexible hoses (the one you sent me) are at the end of the metal brake line that connect, via that banjo bolt, to the caliper. At least that's what they look like to me. But what I'm talking about is, as the looooooooooooooong metal brake line that comes from the front of the car to the rear axle, it hits a "tee", which the CSM calls a "Hose Assembly" which then splits the incoming line into 2 output lines to each side of the car. It looks like it's just about a 1" block... I'll keep diggin'. Thank you!!!

Rather than digging, why don't you crawl under the car and LOOK at the parts that are on there. You will find that the photo I posted is exactly what is on the car now. There is no separate "tee", it is part of the hose assembly.

If it adds ANY value whatsoever, to what Joe has already stated on several occasions, the part number for the Hose Assembly is 9753903. If you specifically search RA, you'll notice the part number is easily cross-referenced to the same Brake Hose Assembly. You may not actually "see" the original part number listed on RA - this is because often times the OEM part numbers don't migrate or "appear" w/in a select manufacturer's resale "Info" as listed on RA. RA is run by Robots...you cannot speak to a human being. I imagine the "Info" data may be supplied by a human being somewhere w/in their system; yet, note the link I'm providing - exact same as the information Joe has provided. Hope this helps.

Big Joe!!! I finallllllllllllllllly got the front end of the car down and crawled under the rear and ...(you know what I found!!!). Way cool. Needed to order a new one as the old one was rusted badlly. But the new one should be at Autozone in the morning and I've already bent the new rear lines that come out of that hose. Can't wait to finally bleed the system and start mooooovin around the driveway. Thanks Joe/all.
