Brake Caliper Date Code
Gentlemen:
Bought a 1970 Cutlass convertible back in October. I have a leaking brake caliper and will need to replace/rebuild. Are brake calipers date coded?
Thanks
Jeff Blackwell

The originals are. It will have a 3 digit number cast into it. That number will be the day of the year it was casted.

So you know the
day
of the year but not the year itself? What good is that?

Just answering his question. If they are original to the car he knows the year. The day of year will likely be near or earlier than the cowl tag date
