Bench bleeding, which method?

I have seen info on bleeding MCs two ways. One with a kit and tubes feeding back to the reservoir, and the other that simply fills the reservoir and depresses the piston in 1" strokes 'til the bubbles are gone (both on level surfaces or in a vise). Is one better? I used the second method last time, and my brakes never were right. Now new lines, hoses, calipers, and combo valve are in place, and I'm tired, and want this to be done, correctly! Thanks in advance.

I used where you put it in a vise. Use a large screw driver and push on the piston with tubes going back into the resevoir and have them end in the fluid to make a air proof circle. doesn't take much pushing to get the air out and if you hook it up after that it is usually very close to done and don't have much air to get out of the lines on the car.
