I just picked up a 57 88. I know the brakes are different from how I understand "normal" brakes. Currently the brake pedal doesn't return and I have to use my 3rd foot (kidding) to pull the pedal back up. My father had some work done to it years ago and they replaced everything (according to them). Car is in wrong condition. Trying to make it safe and functional.

First off, welcome!! Great car! Although I'm partial to 56 Olds's, I have developed a real appreciation for the 57's. Particularly the chrome fender jets.

I have had similar "pedal sticking" problems with my '56 through the years, and you might try just lubing the hell out of the pedal mechanism before you tear apart the entire brake system. Worth a try....
