56 Treadle vac replacement options.

The brake booster on '56 98 4door has failed. Is there a later model booster/MC that will bolt up in the original location? My car has factory air so mounting on the firewall isn't an option. If not, is the Chevy one interchangeable? Thank you.

Your best bet is to have yours rebuilt. I had mine rebuilt by Karps Power Brakes Service and he does a great job. I am very satisfied.

You forgot to ask about the A/C manifold pics as well.

There is no factory easy fix for a treadle vac booster, like others above you would be better off having yours rebuilt. If you are a good fabricator there is a good thread by Olds Dad on a modern booster that is modified to fit a 55 Oldsmobile and it works but takes fab skills to do it.

If you look at your master cylinder/ booster you will notice that it works *** backwards,( pushes to the rear rather than towards the firewall) than a normal master and that is the issue why there isn't a conventual master that converts easily.... Tedd
