1967 f-85 disc brake kit

As i'm getting my 1967 cutlass f-85 i just bought, starting to look at upgrades. The vehicle has manual drums all around, want to install power disc brakes up front. I came across this fully assembled kit: http://www.opgi.com/p/brakes/24723/176/CH22002.html

If anyone can take a look and give me your thoughts, it's priced nicely but i'm more interested in anyone's experience. is this a cheap kit, should I go for SSBC kits and pay a little more? power brakes and power steering are the first things to go in, but i do need to be price conscious.

Thanks for your help guys.

It looks like a decent kit but you may find it cheaper at Right Stuff.

Thanks guys. Even though these kits from OPGI are a little more than right stuff, i'll go with these. All assembled and own booster and cylinder, warrantied. Next is power steering. I know that would go under suspension, but any input on what I'll need to buy? the car is a column shift f-85, manual steering. will I need to replace the rack, or just lines, gearbox and pump? This is a bigger deal I figure, nobody has a kit so I'm not sure which pieces to buy just yet.

I checked out Right Stuff's kit vs OPGI's kit, looks like OPGI has new steering arms with there kit plus they're already assembled. Ranzan, how long have you had this kit from Right Stuff? That's one thing I worry about is quality over a period of time.

I have been thinking of doing this myself on my 66 but mine has 14" wheels and I have no idea how to tell if they will fit. Plus I do not want to drop it any I think it sets great now. Does your 67 have 14" wheels or something larger. This is a good thread and I will keep watching for updates.

Mine are 15" wheels and all these kits fit 15" or larger. Haven't come across any that fit 14" in the power category. Somebody else on here may have solutions, I've just begun.

The kit you linked has 2" drop spindles, is that what you are buying?

Is Amanda between Circleville and Lancaster?
Seems like I don't travel much anymore. About the closest I get to you is the cruise-in at Wheelersburg OH, do you ever come down there? I would like to come to Circleville to their show in the park, depending on the weather, sometime.
The 66 is actually my sons car. I built it for him for his 16th birthday (March '97) I worked for 3 years and was still a little late giving it to him. He picked the color and paint scheme from a '96 Corvette Grand Sport. He drove it to high school and all around, it had the 330 and I put a small Holley carb and de-tuned the car, put a 293 rear gear, it wasn't a performance car. Somehow the car survived, he always drove whatever else I had sitting around. Luckily when he flipped one over it wasn't the blue car, he was in another Oldsmobile I had, a Ciera, totaled the car but he was not seriously injured. He is a great kid but not really into cars like I am. He loves the car and doesn't want to sell it, he says never. It sat a lot as I usually have another toy. A few years back I got tired of seeing it just set so I put a rebuilt '70 455, 400 turbo with shift kit and a switch pitch converter, the converter is a performance aftermarket unit I got from a Buick guy (trishieldperformance.com), a 12 bolt Chevy rear with 355 gear w/posi. I also told him to pick out some new wheels, so we got the chrome American Racing wheels and new 17" tires. I am well pleased with it, but it still is not mine, I am just the caretaker and chief mechanic (and the financer). This winter I did the front discs, new UMI rear control arms with upper adjustable, 1.25" front bar and a 1" rear.
You are close enough to just run down and visit sometime, since I am retired now I am here a lot.
Mike

Dave for me I can`t justify an extra 200 bones ...I just blasted and painted my original steering arms

as far as preassembled.. I don`t know it only took me 1/2 each side to get them done on mine

I haven`t run mine yet my car is still coming together

I think there are some pics of mine in my build thread... the link is my sig line

I am not sure who OPGI sources thier kits from it is either the Right Stuff or inline tube

unless your going high end like Baer either kit will work

ALL factory-style front discs with 10.75" rotors clear 14" wheels. My 69 442 and 70 W-30 both came with factory discs and 14" wheels. Your 1967 wheels may or may not clear discs, however, since there are two different designs of the 14" wheels, one that clears and one that does not. Older cars typically have the ones that do not clear.

Alright, I've been looking at Summit Racing and OPGI as the main spots, SUmmit has this kit http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SUM-BK1203/

Has anyone tried this one or any of Summit's brand brakes?
