Hi Marsman. I can get the measurements for you in a day or so. At the moment my rear-end is being rebuilt, powder-coated, etc. Pick up tomorrow. Try www.Scarebird.com for your '56 rear disc brake kit. For the front try MIKESDISCBRAKES.COM. I could not find anything about FABCRAFT or JAMCO. Do you have a website address for them? Thanks. Bill.

I used scarebird for both the front and rear disc brakes on my 57. The rears were a prototype and worked out great. I only live a few miles from there operation and he came to my home and advised on the installation was fairly simple. I don't see the rear brake in is catalog but I would contact them and ask if they still produce the kit. Here is the contact information

  • Phone: (425) 443-1394
  • Sales only, please use
    email for technical questions.
  • Email: sales@scarebird.com
  • Hours: 10AM-2PM M-F PS

'57 Olds rear conversion

Hi Marsman. Been a while! I just purchased a rear conversion kit from "FABCRAFT" for my '57. He evidently is a dealer for the manufacturer. Well, !!! NOTHING FITS!!!! I was stupid to not mock it up before powder coating. AND , in order for the rotors to clear the caliper bracket mounting bolt heads I had to have the rotors machined! Now, I try to put the calipers on and they are at Least 3/8 of an inch OFF_SET to the inside of the rotor. Anyway, this is just advice through experience. Good Luck with your car.
